Notts church joins in its village Christmas illuminations
A dazzling star is a recent addition to the dazzling Christmas lights of Burton Joyce, since local resident Chris Knowles, designed and errected a large illuminated star on the tower of St Helen's Church in the centre of the village.
The village itself is renowned for the extravagance of its Christmas illuminations on individual houses, which entertain passers-by each year and appear to grow in size and ambition year on year.
Vicar of St Helen's, the Revd John Fisher said the parish council had put a lot of lights into the centre of the village and the Parochial Church Council (PCC) were concerned that the church had been left looking a bit drab. So, they were delighted when local illuminations expert, Chris Knowles - whose house and garden are renowned for their extensive light decorations - offered to design and erect a suitable star.
John Fisher said: "We're very pleased with it and we think it's made a great impression."
